About the School

Mason Creek Elementary School

Mason Creek Elementary opened its doors in August of 2009. This beautiful two story elementary school is home to 90 staff members and 600 students in pre-kindergarten through 5th grade. The school is located on a spacious wooded 28 acre site. There are two playgrounds for student use. The playground at the front west parking lot is for 3rd through 5th grade students. The playground at the rear of the building is for the use of students in kindergarten through second grade. A full size softball field with foul poles and a back stop is also behind the gym. We have security cameras throughout the campus and a buzzer system to enter the school.

The school serves several special programs including gifted students, special needs pre-schoolers and several special education programs including Haven Academy. All grade levels implement a co-taught model. Students and teachers collaborate on a regular basis across programs to maximize the talents and experiences for students. The school has a 4th and 5th grade chorus, Road Runners Club (K-5, Reading Bowl Team, Jr.BETA club, Robotics Club (4th and 5th grades),and an All Girls Coding Club (4th and 5th grades) . We are proud to be a NISE STEM, DCSS STEM school, and currently working towards our AdvancEd (Cognia) National STEM certification.  We have already received $60,000.00 in grants to help support our STEM program.  We also have a Chicken Habitat and Garden area where our students work to keep our animals and plants safe and healthy.

Kristin Martin is beginning her first year as our principal here at MAES.  She comes to us from South Douglas Elementary, and we are thrilled to have her join us!  In addition, we have a new Assistant Principal, Ms. Andral Hills.  We are very excited to welcome her from New Manchester Elementary.  Mrs. April Gaines, Assistant Principal, returns to us this year, celebrating her 28th year in education.

Our After School Program provides students with a safe after school alternative for students. Students complete their homework, participate in physical fitness activities and have time to play and build social skills. Mrs. Cindy Kimberley is the director.

The building is state of the art with Promethean ActivClassroom products in every classroom, 3 laptop carts, 4 iPad carts, and 2 Chromebook carts.  The gym is spacious with a rubberized floor for safety and a large stage area for performances and presentations. There are many energy saving features to the school. The most notable is automatic lights in all rooms and hallways.
