*BIO*
“Teaching is not just a job.  It is a human service, and it must be thought of as a mission.” Dr. Ralph Tyler once spoke these words.  I knew that it was my mission to teach young children from a very early age.  I began this journey by earning a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Georgia College and State University. I have been teaching elementary school for 23 years.  My educational career began in Gray, Georgia, teaching fifth grade.  Upon getting married I moved to Douglas County and began teaching third and ¾ Multi-Age at Arbor Station Elementary.  It was there that I first became a team leader, Four Block Instructor, and later Teacher of the Year.  In 1998, I began working at Holly Springs.  I continued to teach third grade, participated on the leadership team, earned a Master’s in Education, gained a gifted endorsement, and was recognized for being Teacher of the Year.  In 2008, I helped open Mason Creek Elementary where I began teaching Gifted. I have been involved on the leadership team, 2012 SACS facilitator, Reading Bowl Chair, Spelling Bee Chair, Beta Club Co-Chair, head of the CDA assessment team for the gifted department, trained as the LFS coordinator for the school, and last the lead director/teacher for the new teacher mentoring program in our school. Since teaching at Mason Creek, I have also had the honor of being recognized as Semi Finalist for Douglas County Teacher of the Year for the 2012 school year.  Douglas County has had a huge impact on molding my educational career to become the best teacher possible.

In my free time I enjoy spending time at the beach/pool, traveling, walking, and spending time with friends and family.  I live every day with the philosophy “If you are going to do something, do it 100%, or don’t do it at all.”
