Summer reading truly makes a difference. Studies show that students who read consistently during the summer can maintain or even improve their reading skills, while students who do not read may lose up to two months of reading achievement over the summer break.
We hope your Wolf Cubs continue reading all summer long to help prevent the “summer slide!” 📖🐺
Just like last summer, we would LOVE to feature your Wolf Cub on our social media and website! Send pictures of your child reading this summer to Katie Henry at katie.henry@dcssga.org

These students have faithfully brought the news to our Wolf Cubs each and every day, taking on every role behind the scenes and in front of the camera — from directing and producing to anchoring and delivering the weather. Their hard work, dedication, teamwork, and confidence have truly been incredible to watch all year long.
We are so proud of the professionalism and leadership they have shown, and we know this is only the beginning for many of them. Don’t be surprised if you see these familiar faces anchoring the Atlanta or National news one day! ❤️🐺

If you received an overdue notice, please have your Wolf Cub check backpacks, bedrooms, cars, and anywhere library books may have been tucked away. New notices will be coming home tomorrow.
With an average cost of about $10 per book, that’s nearly $600 worth of books missing from our Media Center. We want all of our students to continue enjoying amazing books for years to come, so every return helps!
Thank you for helping us bring our books back home to the Media Center! 💙📖

Our garden got some extra love this morning thanks to Mrs. Ochoa’s amazing class! 🥕🍅
While getting their hands dirty, our students became little botanists—discussing the different parts of a plant and learning exactly how vegetables grow from tiny seeds to harvest. 🧠✨
The team worked hard to plant: 🍅 Tomatoes 🥒 Cucumbers 🫑 Peppers
The best part? These homegrown veggies will provide fresh, healthy snacks for our school animals all summer long! 🐰🐢
Way to go, Mrs. Ochoa’s class, for helping our garden (and our furry friends) thrive!

A big thank you to Coach Hurley and also Coach Taylor and all of our amazing 5th grade helpers for creating such fun and memorable days for our PEC students, Kindergarteners, and 1st graders! Even with a rainy start, our Kindergarten and 1st grade students brought the energy in the gym before heading outside for exciting water games and lots of laughter.
We can’t wait to keep the fun going next week with 4th & 5th grade and then 2nd & 3rd grade! 🎉🏃♀️🏃♂️

School nurses are so much more than a helping hand when students don’t feel well. They are comforters, caregivers, problem-solvers, and calm voices during difficult moments. Every day, they care for our students with patience, compassion, and kindness, helping keep our school safe, healthy, and supported.
We are incredibly grateful for all they do behind the scenes and the love they show our school family each and every day. Thank you for being the heart of care in our school! 🩺✨

Teachers are encouragers, listeners, cheerleaders, problem-solvers, caregivers, and so much more. They wear countless hats and make a lasting difference in the lives of our students in ways big and small.
If a teacher at MAES has made an impact on your child or your family, we would love for you to share a kind note or memory in the comments. We’ll make sure they see every word of encouragement and appreciation! 🍎✨
