Remembering September 11th - 25 Years Later
Today, MAES paused to commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11th by wearing Red, White, and Blue and taking a special moment of silence on the morning announcements. For many of us adults, this is a day we remember vividly - we know exactly where we were and what we were doing when everything changed.
For our students, September 11th is different. It's history they learn about in Social Studies and American History class rather than a memory they carry themselves. That's why moments like today matter so much - they help our Wolf Cubs understand the significance of this day and why it continues to shape our country 25 years later.

🌱 Fall Agriculture is in Full Swing! 🍁
Our school garden is buzzing this autumn! Here's what our young farmers have been up to:
🐰 Mrs. Weidner's kindergarteners toured the garden and picked fresh clover to treat our school chickens and rabbits!
🌱 Mr. Marshman's 1st graders learned what plants need to survive, then planted the seeds that will fill our garden beds.
💡 In STEM, students are testing whether seeds grow better in sunlight or under a grow light. Stay tuned for results!
🤝 Huge thanks to Ryan Bragg and the Alexander High School FFA for donating seeds, soil, and starter kits — helping us grow the next generation of farmers and scientists! 🌾

🐺📚 AUGUST BEANSTACK RESULTS ARE IN! 📚🐺
The Wolf Cubs showed up and showed OUT for our first Beanstack challenge of the year — 62,544 minutes read in August alone! 🤯👏
Huge congratulations to our grade-level trophy winners for having the most students meet the monthly goal of 300 minutes! Your class name will proudly sit on your grade level trophy for the next month - but don't get too comfortable, everyone else is coming for you in September! 😏🏆
And a MASSIVE shoutout to Mrs. Sweeney's class, our first-ever winners of the MAES Beanstack Cup! 🏆✨ The Cup — plus some special treats — will be delivered to their classroom this Friday!

Friday Mr. Lockett's 5th grade ELA classes read "How to Make S'mores" — a sweet story about a girl who moves from Pakistan to the United States and gets nervous about going to camp for the very first time. She didn't want to go... but once she got there, everything changed! She made new friends, discovered she loved camp, and even learned how to make the perfect s'more. 🔥🍫
Then our 5th Graders got to enjoy a delicious S'more for themselves!
A great reminder that trying new things can lead to the best surprises and a wonderful way to end a full week of learning! 💛
