Last Thursday, Mr. Marshman's class had a wonderful time dressing up as their favorite story or movie character and they had a special visitor - Mrs. Marshman!! Mr. Marshman's mom came to read a book to the class! What a fantastic Halloween treat! Mrs. Bearden captured a day in the life of her first grade students. During the day they work on I-Ready Math, Magnetics Phonics and Reading independent work, and Learning Paths among other things! Friday was a big day at Mason Creek! We all dressed in pink for a pink out to honor those who are fighting or who have fought breast cancer! At the end of the day our amazing bus drivers were presented with keychains for bus driver appreciation week by our 5th graders. They designed and printed them using our 3D printer! Our Hispanic Heritage Month Beanstack Challenge brag tags are coming home on bookbags today!! We are so proud of everyone who earned them by reading 300 minutes, logging it in Beanstack, and turning in a picture they drew of a character from a book they have read. Red Ribbon Week is next week! Red Ribbon Week was started in 1985 and highlights the importance of living a drug-free life. It presents an opportunity for parents, educators, and communities to reinforce the drug-free messages they share with their children throughout the year. Mr. Lockett's 5th Grade reading classes have started a novel study on the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio. Wonder is about a 10-year-old boy named August Pullman who starts middle school for the first time and experiences bullying, social isolation, and friendship. We can't wait to hear the discussions and ideas they come up with as they read the book! #bettertogether #theCreekisontheRise
